About us
What comes to mind when you imagine a fencing club? Typically posh, overwhelmingly white, overwhelmingly male, right?
I've been fencing for about twenty years now and it's too fantastic a sport to waste on one tiny demographic. So I established the Feminist Fencing Society; a truly inclusive club where people of all genders, ages and abilities can feel welcome and supported.
Why is fencing uniquely wonderful? It's a full-body work-out that flexes the mind too, where your wits need to be as sharp as your blade. It can be thrilling and competitive, but also supportive and comradely.
Why is the Feminist Fencing Society different? We are proudly and unapologetically feminist. We want to welcome groups who traditionally assume fencing isn't for them, most especially women, menopausal people and neurodivergent learners.
Our aim as a club and my aim as a coach is to give people - women in particular - a taste of an exciting and empowering sport. So if you fancy trying a new way of sticking it to the patriarchy, why not come along and have a stab at it!
